Marcus Cederqvist has served as the Executive Director to the New York
Republican County Committee since March 2002. He was formerly an
associate at Integrated Records and Imaging Systems, Inc (IRIS), a
professional consulting company specializing in integrated document
management and data processing technology for the pharmaceutical
industry.
Marcus first became involved in local politics while
still a college student volunteering for Charles Millard’s successful
campaign for City Council in 1991. Upon returning to New York from
school in 1992, Marcus had a brief summer internship with State Senator Roy M.
Goodman. It was there that he met Andrew S. Eristoff, who was serving
as Senator Goodman’s Counsel at the time. Marcus became the campaign coordinator
for Eristoff’s City Council campaign in the fall of 1993. Following the
successful effort, he joined Eristoff’s Council staff in December
1993.
In 1995, Marcus was elected
Republican District Leader in the 65th Assembly District on
the East Side of Manhattan, becoming one of the youngest people to serve
in such a position, and has been involved with the county organization
ever since. He was campaign manager of Council Member Eristoff’s
successful reelection campaign in 1997 and continued to serve as his
Chief of Staff until July 1999. He resigned as District Leader when he
accepted the executive position at the New York Republican County
Committee. As Executive Director, Marcus is credited with
modernizing the NYRCC operations while drastically reducing the regular
compliance and operating costs.
Marcus was born at New York Hospital
in 1970 and is a life-long resident of the Upper East Side. He attended the
Browning School and then the
University of Rochester, graduating with a
B.A. in Political Science and a Certificate of Management in
International Relations. He was awarded Our Town’s OTTY Award in
1998 for outstanding community service and has been an active volunteer
with the
Children's Aid Society for many years.
